Eight assault gunboats have been received by the Nigerian Navy from the Rivers state government in order to boost the fight against piracy and oil theft in the Niger Delta region.
The Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike said in his speech at the inauguration of the gunboat, that 13 more boats will be donated in addition to the 12 that was donated earlier making it 33.
Chief of Naval staff,vice Adm.Ibok Ete-Ibas said the additional gunboats would boost the Navy’s waterway patrol and speed up troops response and subdue criminal activities on the waterways. Ibas went further to commend the Governor.

North Korea disrespected the wishes of China & its highly respected President when it launched, though unsuccessfully, South Korea military confirmed that the missile test took place in south pyeongan province in the early hours of Saturday.
A court of Appeal in the capital territory of Senegal, Dakar has sustained the life imprisonment of former chad president, Hissene Habre on war crimes charges. The court also stated that a trust fund be set up to manage reparations awarded to the over 4 000 victims. Habre has been ordered to pay millions of dollars in compensation. The ongoing trial of the former chad president began in late July 2015,this is noted in the history of Africa as the first of it’s kind in which courts from one country prosecuted the former ruler of another for human rights crimes. The Extraordinary African Chambers was created by the African Union and Senegal to try Habre for crimes committed during his presidency from 1982-1990.
Bollywood producer and veteran actor, Vinod Khana who stormed the industry with his romantic roles back then in the 70’s,has died at age 70. The Bollywood actor who suffered from bladder carcinoma died at Mumbai,s HN Reliance Hospital in India. Doctors from the hospital said he breathed his last at 11:20 am on Thursday. He is survived by his wife and four sons.
The Zambian President Edgar Lungu said in a statement on Friday that he would be forced to declare a state of emergency if people do not stop setting ablaze public properties in the wake of the arrest of the country’s opposition leader. President Lungu assured Zambians that the state of emergency would only have effect in areas where there is chaos and not the entire country.
